Forget

Sometimes all the lights are red
all the way home, the day is pounding
in your head

Swim upstream.
Forget the city wrapped around you
Forget the millions of bodies teeming
Forget that they would never find you
Forget the desperation of the crowd
Forget it all, and all you can…
Forget it now.

There is a way of doing this –
I found it once
It was a simple trick
And if I could only share it with you
You’d thank me a thousand times
and so
I’d never be able to even the score

The which is more:
You and I have no affiliation
No place, time or person alike
And if we do, so what? I say
We probably won’t
another day.
